Michelle & I had a really good Christmas. Basically, all of our family was there. A jeer is needed for for Duracell who claimed to sell a pre-charged rechargeable battery. These batteries were not pre-charged and therefore Michelle & I did not have the ability to take any pictures during Christmas. We did take some video, but it isn't digital so I can't post it here.
We both received more gifts than we should be getting as well as more food than we can probably eat. It was great to see everyone, including Kim's kids. I hope they had a good time.
Now comes the dreadful time of removing all of the Christmas decor. I can't wait till I have older kids that can help with this chore. We start child birth classes on Jan 8 through Feb 12 - all Tuesday evenings in Grapevine, so don't expect any answered calls during that span.
Michelle is feeling big now - uncomfortable. We only have 8 weeks left. I'm sure it's going to go fast.
Thanks again everyone for the gifts.
Everything was normal for the check-up. A girl was the confirmed gender. Below to the left is today's (wednesday's) sonogram and to the right is a picture from last week.
We finally got the carpet! It looks so much better. We've also completely cleaned up our office (see pic) and the baby's room. Now our garage is junky (as is the master bedroom), but we don't need those to host the family Christmas.
We went to a Dallas Stars game (thank you Bob for the tickets) last night. Michelle said she felt Laci move around alot. Hopefully she's s sports fan (don't tell Michelle I said that).
Michelle's baby shower was originally planned for Saturday January 12th, but things have caused the shower to move to 01/19/07 - the following Saturday. No time & place have been finalized, but it will most likely be somewhere between Keller/Watauga and Hurst/Bedford.
This change was made today (12/11/07). I would suggest keep all the surrounding weekends open if you want to attend - just in case. You can email me if you want the contact person's name and number.

We made our final selections for replacing our carpet yesterday. They should be coming out next week to install.(Yes we have finally cleared out the spare bedroom) Our current carpet is the original so it's been there for 15+ years and the last guy smoked. A friend gave us a contact, so we're getting it much cheaper than retail. So we should be ready to host Christmas in a few weeks - just don't spill anything.
Next week, Michelle also gets another sonogram. This should confirm a girl and we'll get some pictures.
Over the next 6 weeks, several friends are meeting at our house almost every Thursday to create a baby scrapbook (Michelle has led this task for multiple other pregnant women, so now they are returning the favour) to present to her at Michelle's baby shower (Saturday, January 19th). That means I have to get Michelle out of the house each of those days. We do have plans on going to a Dallas Stars game (courtesy of Bob O'Malley) and I think I have one other thing planned for another Thursday - maybe an early Christmas present.
Work has been very draining. My old position was a very mentally challenging job, but I had been doing it for 3 years so I had fallen on auto-pilot. My new position is way more marketable (not that I plan on going anywhere) and atleast as logic filled (maybe more) so I'm enjoying it, but I can't do the autopilot thing (not for a while anyways). I've been working hard at streamlining/automating one particular report (ONE - I have many more that could use the same). It's my most common one, so I tackled it first. I'm excited becuase I am almost done with it (converting hours and hours worth of excel manipulation into some text altering and a few button pushes), however since I'm not professionally trained in programming, my database isn't exactly "up to code." It works fine, but if there were a need to change some things, there are so many queries and tables and macros and VB coding that I'm worried about getting lost in my own programming. In the end it's still worth it. The data has much less opportunity for human error (unless I made an error in the code - then all the data has the same error - which is still better then random errors here and there).
Let me give you a quick analogy about what I had to do before: Suppose you have a new address book and you are entering all the addresses in order - leaving no open spaces. When you get to the end, you realize that you forgot to add new friend or that two friend got married and they should no longer be separate entries - with no gaps and no room for error, you would basically have to start all over again in a new book. That is how things were. Now I can do this by changing the appropriate entries and then hitting a button or two - all the grouping and sorting and formatting is done for me. This is way watered down from what I really do, but the same emotions are present.
